Owner, Producer & Head Instructor

MATT O'ROURKE

Matt, a Juno-nominated songwriter and music producer, boasts over 15 years of teaching experience and holds an Associate Degree in Music from Hollywood's Musicians Institute College. Over the years, he has garnered numerous awards, winning Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist of the Year with Kris Barclay and producing the song "Building a Wall" by Shawnee Kish, winning CBC's Searchlight 2020. Matt's ongoing collaboration involves writing for Shawnee Kish's debut EP, which earned a Juno nomination in 2022. While teaching the fundamentals of music, Matt encourages creativity and versatility with his students by helping them write original music and building good character.

COLE HERMER

Cole studied Independent Music Production and Independent Songwriting and Publishing at Seneca College. Boasting over 10 years of teaching experience and an extensive background in live performances and music recording, Cole possesses the capability to both play and instruct a diverse range of musical styles. His emphasis on practical musical skills through consistent practice is a cornerstone of his teaching philosophy. Notably, Cole's unique ability to guide students, regardless of age or skill level, in learning songs as a cohesive band is pivotal to their musical development and fosters confidence in their musical abilities.

Instructor - Violin

PARISA SIMPSON

With a University Degree in music and performing arts in Tehran, Parisa has been playing violin and viola for nearly 20 years, including performing in various orchestras.

Using the Suzuki method, she has over 10 years experience teaching students from all ages ranging from age 3 to adults.

Mainly focusing on classical music, her interests also include rock, metal, and progressive!

Jason McKenzie

Jason McKenzie is a Jamaican born multi instrumentalist, artist, composer, arranger, songwriter, and producer, based in Durham and the GTA. Jason attended Maxwell Heights Secondary School from which he graduated from in 2021. Here he was the first to receive the “Most Valuable Musician” award for participating in Choir, Concert Band and Jazz Band. He is now currently a 4th year student in the Bachelors of Music program at Humber College as a voice major. He is currently in two reggae bands called “The Future Collective” and his own “The Giant Steppas”, but had experienced in performing Jazz, R&B, Neo Soul, and Pop.

Kaeden Reid

Kaeden has been playing the drums for over 10 years with personal lessons for more than half of that time and has over 5 years experience with playing in bands as well as live shows. He has been playing guitar and bass guitar for over 5 years.  Kaeden has played with numerous bands on stage and continues to do so. He believes that learning music should always be fun and leaving you wanting to come back to learn more. Kaeden has a deep passion for music and loves to teach and share his knowledge to others.

Darby Donovan

Darby is currently enrolled in his sixth year of education in the Vocal Music Performance Program at All Saints CSS. He holds his Royal Conservatory of Music certification for Grade 8 Voice. Darby is based in musical theatre, and has been performing with various companies on stage for 9 years. Darby believes that everyone should get the chance to experience and appreciate the gift of music, as it is such a dynamic and unifying art form.

Kaelan Roddy

Kaelan is a self-taught musician who discovered his love for music at a young age. He has been honing his musical talent as part of O’Neill CVI’s Vocal/Drama Performing Arts Program for the last four years. His contributions to the program include participation in Chamber Choir, Men’s Choir, Mass Choir, and Jazz Choir, as well as leading roles in four OCVI annual musical productions. In his free time, Kaelan writes, records, and releases his own music and film productions. At 13 years old, he won Best Durham Song of the Year at the Oshawa Music Awards, and at 15, he had a public screening for his first YouTube Special. Kaelan is passionate about helping aspiring musicians find their creativity and freedom through true musical expression.

DONTE ALIE

Donte is a self-taught, multi-instrumentalist based from Oshawa. Donte has played in numerous bands from 70’s Funk, Metal and Country to R&B/Jazz etc. Donte has a deep rooted passion for teaching and striving to aid others in achieving their music goals whatever genre that may be. To Donte, one the most important aspects of life is music and he can help you to express yourself in anyway you feel.

NOAH ZULAUF

Noah Zulauf is a Whitby based musician who has experience in all settings of music, orchestral, marching, band and many more. Noah has over 10 years of experience in playing, drums, guitar, bass guitar and piano. Noah has found a passion for teaching music, starting with family friends, then moving his way up to teach at Mattomusic where he also studied.

CASEY SPENCER

Casey has been singing and playing piano for over 15 years and has 4 years of teaching experience. She currently holds her Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 8 Voice and Grade 6 Piano. She graduated from O’Neill CVI’s Performing Arts program and since has worked as a Music Director, helped with choirs, and performed individually as well as in band settings. She believes that our music grows and evolves as we do and that strong basics and versatility are key to expressing yourself musically.

JENNA OGILVIE

Jenna is currently attending the Vocal/Drama performing arts program at O'Neill C.V.I. She holds her Grade 6 Piano and Grade 5 Vocal Royal Conservatory of Music certifications. Jenna has grown up in musical theatre, which has been a huge source of her confidence. In more recent years, she has developed a passion for writing music. She loves all kinds of music and believes in the importance of self-expression through creation and performance.

ABBEY KRAUS

Abbey is currently attending O’Neill C.V.I. in the Vocal/Drama Performing Arts program. She has been taking vocal lessons for 10 years and is in O’Neill’s Chamber Choir, Jazz Choir, and Treble Voices Choir. She is also in a Peer Tutor program at O’Neill where she assists the teacher of a grade nine music course. Abbey got involved in musical theatre in 2018 and has really found a passion for performing onstage and bringing each character to life.

CYANN DIAS

With over a decade of experience instructing music, Cyann has been instrumental in guiding numerous bands, solo performers, and songwriters to their inaugural stage appearances. Proficient in teaching guitar, vocals, ukulele, drums, and bass guitar, she caters to a diverse range of students. In addition to her teaching role, Cyann actively participates in the music scene, playing in two bands and collaboratively writing and recording original music. A devoted enthusiast of live music, Cyann frequently showcases her vocal and guitar skills both with her bands and as a solo performer at local events, venues, and open mic nights.

ALEXANDER SPENCER

Alex is a founding member and guitarist for the Juno-Award winning band "Dizzy".  Alex has many years of teaching experience and has multi-instrumental abilities. Alex is best known most for his unique style on guitar and easy-going personality with students.

MICAELA RAE

Micaela Rae is a Toronto based musician with experience as both a solo, and a choral artist. Micaela has been taking private music lessons from the age of 5, graduated high school with 2 music awards from O’Neill Collegiate’s Performing Arts Program, and in the fall of 2019, she enrolled in Humber College’s renowned Bachelor of Music Program for vocal jazz studies. Micaela holds her Royal Conservatory Certification for Grade 4 Piano, Grade 6 Voice, and Grade 6 music theory.

CONNOR ECKLUND

Connor Ecklund is a multi-instrumentalist who has been playing for over 7 years. Connor has over 4 years of music teaching experiences as well as over 5 years of performance experience. Connor has played in multiple bands playing a range of different genres and instruments.
